MUMC Music
Chancel Choir
-Meets on Wednesday evenings in the choir room.
-The Adult Chancel Choir sings at the 11:00 Service of Worship each week. This choir also participates throughout the church year providing additional music for Christmas and Easter as well as during Revival. A minimal level of music reading skill would be advantageous but is not required. We are always looking for new voices to add to the choir and welcome those who might only be able to sing during a certain season or a specific service.
Praise Choir
-Meets Wednesday evenings in the choir room and occasionally for seasonal practice with the Chancel Choir.
-The Praise Choir was organized to provide music in the 8:45 a.m. Worship Service on Sunday mornings. Its focus is on contemporary music from a variety of composers and includes both readers and nonreaders of music.
Men's and Ladies Ensemble
-Meet on alternating Wednesday evenings in the choir room. Ladies meet the 1st & 3rd Wednesday and Men meet the 2nd & 4th Wednesday.
-The Men's and Ladies Ensemble are designed to provide members of all ages the opportunity to come together to sing a variety of music. This ensemble sings special music throughout the year during Worship Services.
Hand Bell Choir
-Meets seasonally in the Handbell Room.
-The Adult Hand Bell Choir is comprised of individuals who wish to participate in an instrumental ensemble. The goal of this group is to provide music at worship during the Christmas and Easter Seasons. The ensemble is always looking for new members who would be willing to participate during one or both of these Seasons. A minimal level of music reading skill is required.
Contemporary Praise & Worship Band
-Meets weekly.
-The Praise Band consists of individual musicians playing guitar, drums, bass, and keyboards along with vocalists. The Praise Band performs for the Contemporary Worship Service.
Orchestra
-An orchestra gives people an opportunity to play brass, winds, or strings and occasionally accompanies the choir and soloist.
Youth Choir
-Meets Sunday evenings in the choir room.
-The Youth Choir is designed to provide all youth the opportunity to sing music of the church. A concentration is placed on praise songs which are used in the service of worship, as well as other varieties of music and anthems to be sung in worship. Senior Youth are also encouraged to participate in adult choirs and ensembles when possible.
Children's Hand Chimes
-Meets Wednesday evenings in the hand bell room.
-The Hand Chimes Choir provides the opportunity for older children to explore instrumental music. The children who play need to have a basic understanding of how to read music and the desire to participate in an instrumental group. This choir is designed to lead to playing hand bells.
Children's Choirs
-Are divided into three age-grouped choirs which meet Wednesday evenings in conjunction with Wednesday's children.
-The Children's Music Program provides the opportunity for children ages 4 through grade 5 to sing in church as well as in special programs at Christmas and again in the Spring.
