Peru Yard SaleOne person’s junk is another person’s treasure.
One of the first major fundraisers used to fund our foreign mission program was the Yard Sale and it has become a yearly event that astounds many. Every year the question comes up, “Does anybody have anything left to give us?” But every year we fill the Leisure Ministries Building (Gym) up with clothes, furniture, artwork, electronics, kids toys, games, stuffed animals, home décor, sporting goods, yard maintenance equipment and kitchen appliances.
For those that want to contribute items we normally have three drop off dates at the Pac Rat in Mauldin (behind the Post Office not the one on Butler Road). We encourage folks to bring items over on the Thursday and Friday before the yard sale directly to the LMB. We also arrange pickups for items too large or for folks that can’t make it.
The Yard Sale serves many purposes other than just help to fund our Peru Mission Team. Every year, people get a chance to clean out their houses of unwanted and unused items. Every year people get a chance to get a deal on items they may need. One of the great things about the yard sale is that people who live on a very tight budget come and get a chance to purchase items they may not be able to afford new such as kitchen appliances, kids toys and clothes.
The day of the yard sale we offer baked goods, breakfast items, coffee for sale and the Boy Scouts have their annual BBQ on site so you can get lunch as well.
