Spirit Center Construction Progress - December 2008
Finally all of the major underground utility work has been completed. And thank goodness it was ahead of all of this rain. The alley work is underway and should be completed after the first of the year.
The power outage was scheduled prior to Thanksgiving and was completed without any major problem and all heating equipment came back on line and the elevator also came back on line without a problem.
Footings and foundations are being installed between the rain storms to prepare the way for steel erection. Steel erection is scheduled to begin about the first of the year and when the steel is erected the size and scope of the building will begin to be apparent.
Brick for the building has been placed on order and is scheduled to be installed early in March, 2009.
Our Woodshop has been hard at work. They have about completed the cabinet work to be installed in the third floor kitchenette for the youth. Seventeen cabinets were built for the youth room kitchenette.
The Woodshop's next project will be the cabinet work for the classrooms on the second and third floors. There are 11 classrooms and each will need a cabinet for storage that is on casters. The design of this cabinet was done by the Furnishing Committee staff.
Most of the floor covering, colors and moveable partition selections are nearing completion by the Furnishing Committee.
The house that is behind the new Spirit Center, that was our Youth House and is now the construction office, will be acquired by the Church of God Home for Children and will be moved to their site by them after we complete the construction. This area can then become an additional parking area.
We wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy and Prosperous New Year!
